Think about you, your fiance, and the story behind the two of you. Were you high school sweethearts? College sweethearts? Best friends? Chance of luck? Internet daters? We seem to be finding our other halves in so many different ways that we all have a story. Each one being special and different from the rest - so why shouldn’t your big day and of course, your gown, be any different?

When you try on your gown - think about the wedding the two of you are creating. Your wedding is a reflection of your personalities and your story and your gown will only compliment it. If you are a simple couple - go for the chiffon’s and that “sweeter” look. If are a bold couple - go for something more dramatic with some beading and flare. Traditional - go for lace and maybe even the matching mantilla! Don’t worry, he’ll love whatever you choose!

Don’t be scared to express yourself and your relationship. That’s what makes this wedding planning adventure extra special.

We love jazzing up our look, don’t we? In a previous post we talked about short/long dresses being converted. But what if you couldn’t find a dress that could do that or didn’t exactly want to do a full costume change?

This is why our brilliant designers came up with the concept of a removable sash/belt. Well - this isn’t entirely new but many designers did not originally have accessories other than veils to compliment the gowns. They knew that girls wanted to have a sweeter look for the ceremony and a flashier look for the party. Who can blame them?

If you’re in between looks here are a few ideas:

• Solid or ivory colored sash for ceremony
• blinged out belt for reception
• black or stark colored belt for reception

Some belts/sashes will have the same concept and pattern in different colors. This will be a nice way to keep your look consistent with a twist.

Keep in mind that this is part of your dress so you should work this into your budget. Belts can range anywhere from $50 to $600 so do your research and never be scared to ask if you can purchase the sample ;)

Brides are constantly re-inventing ways to use their dress in more than one way. Whether it’s to wear it again or to have something different between the ceremony and reception (even cocktail hour too). Well, lets face it - weddings are expensive and we don’t want to spend additional if we don’t have to. That’s why we chose today’s “dress of the day” as Tara Keely’s interchangeable wedding dress. We love this dress! The skirt is a detachable tulle and the bodice of the dress is all lace, and it’s mini! It’s quite adorable and you can make the look in three different ways: High-low, full ball gown, short party dress. How can you go wrong? To add some glitz and glamour, add some bling to the belt!

Look into your options if you’re going for a multi-look before buying two or three different gowns for your wedding day. Save the money for some cute outfits for the honeymoon ;) 

In honor of our dress of the day today, Liancarlo style #5815, we’ve decided to take a look into pink wedding gowns. Wearing a soft pink on your wedding day is just as special as wearing ivory. In fact, a blush tone brings in that extra spark of romance and magic when looking back at pictures of your special day. If you’re looking for something different but unsure how to go about it, take this into consideration. The warmth of the color tone just gives a bit more character but will still give that “bridal” feel because it is not too far from ivory. No matter what - you are the bride and you will look nothing less than perfect. 

Just a thought for today: I met a bride who didn’t want to wear a heel because she and her groom are about the same height. Well, I understand however, walking down the aisle a bride should always have a slight heel (even if it’s half an inch) because your posture and the way you walk will be completely different as opposed to wearing flats.

After the ceremony, kick off the shoes and put on those ballet flats you’ve been dying to wear!

*tip* Bring your shoes to the shoemaker, he can cut the heel if need be.

Allow me to jump right into this: Vera Wang will not and has not held back when it comes to non-traditional wedding gowns. If you have peaked in at her Fall 2012 collection, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Black gowns. If you have not seen it, they have recently posted this collection on her site.

These unbelievably beautiful couture bridal gowns in black have made its way making a huge statement. And rightfully so. Whether or not you are a fan of the color does not take away from the beauty and artistry that the gowns represent. Inspired by a “witchcraft” theme, the gowns are a mix of flowy black and nude chiffon creating a mysterious yet fun look that will leave a bride feeling sexy on her big day. Don’t feel comfortable wearing black for your wedding? No problem - these gowns will give you the option to order in ivory as well. 

One of the first things we do when we walk into the ballroom of the wedding is take a glance of the cake, and then take a picture of it. Well, if you have the pleasure of seeing one of these cakes at a wedding, you definitely don’t want to miss it. I’m talking about hand-painted wedding cakes. This is a new trend and if you can find a great baker who can paint, you’re in luck. These cakes are a work of art and sometimes even a shame to cut! What I love most about these is that you will most likely never see a duplicate. You can take a piece of fabric or create your story, and put it on … cake.
